Right? That’s why I’m not happy with Ferrari. It drives me nuts when two supposedly foreign language speakers talk to each other in English with a horrible accent. it doesn’t happen in real life so why would you portray it this way other than too dumb it down for a less intelligent audience? Speak the intended language and give me subtitles, or just do the dialogue in English with your regular accent.
I’ve cited this example in previous rants, but The Death Of Stalin is a great movie with all the actors speaking English in their native accents.

The characters are all Soviets interacting with each other in the USSR, so the actors should be speaking Russian. Instead the script was written with the actors speaking to each other in normal English without cheesy Russian accents. It’s like reading a translation of a Tolstoy or Dostoevsky book….
Steve Buscemi plays Nikita Khrushchev and because Steve is from New York, he speaks in his normal New York accented English instead of a fake Russian accented English.
Michael Palin plays Vyacheslav Molotov, and speaks in his British accent.
My point is that Krushchev or Molotov would normally converse with their countrymen in Russian, not heavily accented English as is often the case in many movies. In this movie, the writer(s) has chosen to have the dialogue in English without fake Russian accents.
Because 1) English is still THE international language 2) As such, English is used in all driver/pit communications with drivers and crew from English-speaking countries as well as those from Japan, China, Spain, Italy, Brazil, etc., not only in F1 but in other international racing series as well 3) F1 is at its root an English sport with most teams based there regardless of what automotive brand they may be representing at any given time.
What I meant was that the actors in Ferrari should have started talking in Italian with English subtitles and then had a dissolve to where they then spoke non-Italian accented English. The English with an Italian accent throughout the whole film was cheesy and only works in Super Mario Brothers.
Watch some F1 on F1 TV or Sky. The way language was treated in the movie was very much like what you’d hear on either telecast. There are so many native languages that English prevails, with various accents, including race officials, team bosses, crew, drivers… English is the one language everyone involved is fluent in.
A friend recommended the series Queen Of The South so I gave it a shot. If I remember correctly, the main characters are supposed to be Mexican, but they are having conversations with each other in Spanish accented English.
I think I made it fifteen minutes before I shut it off.
Rush is excellent, Ford vs Ferrari is good, and Ferrari not so much.
That sounds about right, although I always enjoy Adam Driver's acting.

You should watch the movie, it’s really good.

Was there a Hogan's Heroes movie? I didn't know that. Did Cruise play Hogan? This is how much of a non-movie fan I am.

Tim Cook is a POS but the movie wasn’t. I genuinely enjoyed it.
My dad asked how it was and I told him that F1 was to Grand Prix as Goon was to Slap Shot. That’s a compliment, btw.
